What is Playa Ocotal like?
A small, naturally beautiful bay with calm water, tide pools and a quieter feel than its busy neighbor. It’s one of the better swimming beaches on the Papagayo side, and good for snorkeling when the water is clear. Playas del Coco, a few minutes away by car, has the shops, ATMs, restaurants and bars, so you get the peace without giving up the conveniences.
What is Ocotal Beach Resort like?
The resort is known for its hilltop setting: wide ocean views over the Gulf of Papagayo, rooms looking out to sea, and a pool and restaurant high above the bay, with the beach a short way down the hill. It’s a relaxed, low-key stay rather than a big all-inclusive.

What is there to do around Ocotal?
- Diving and snorkeling. Boats leave from Playas del Coco for the Catalina Islands, known for giant manta rays, and the Bat Islands, known for bull sharks.
- Sportfishing. Ocotal has long been a favorite with anglers heading out into the Gulf of Papagayo.

What’s the closest airport to Ocotal?
